Aside from Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, Felix is the most sought after teenager in world football this summer after a breakthrough season in his native Portgual.
The 19-year-old bagged 15 goals in 26 games as he helped fire his side to a league title victory ahead of arch rivals Porto.
It’s of little surprise that Felix is being linked with most of Europe’s elite clubs and both Manchester sides are said to be interested.
Yet Bent believes that Felix may be better off joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side rather than Pep Guardiola’s.
“It depends on what he wants to do,” the retired forward told Sky Sports News.
“If he wants to go and play football sooner rather than later, go to Manchester United.
“If they’re going to start rebuilding, they just signed Dan James, if they go and sign Felix as well he’s going to play. They’re going to sign him to play.
“If you go to Manchester City now they’re pretty much set. All of their players are quite young as well.
“The only thing you might think is if [Leroy] Sane goes to Bayern Munich, that frees up a little slot there and maybe he can slot in there.
“But for me right now it’s where he sees himself. If he wants to hit the ground running right now in this kind of development stage, maybe Manchester United might suit him as we stand right now.”
Bent rates Felix highly and was especially impressed with his hat trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-final. He also believes it’d be a great signing for United.
“I really like this kid. The first time I watched him was when he scored the hat-trick in the Europa League quarter-final.
“What I like about him is he’s not fazed by the big occasions. To score a hat-trick in the quarter-final of any competition says a lot, he’s only young as well.
“He’s so exciting and I really like him. If Manchester United can go and pull that one off as well that’s really going to set them up in good stead.
“His buyout clause is over £100m so that might be a bit tricky.
“But as I said, as a youngster in world football I’m a big fan of this kid.”
