Manchester City Should Target Jonathan Tah – Man City Square

With Manchester City searching for center back options, they would be wise to consider Jonathan Tah as a target.

Manchester City are in the market for a center back this summer. After their long-time captain, Vincent Kompany, departed on a free transfer at the beginning of June, City have been searching for someone to take his place in the squad.

Though it is known that City are exploring their options, they’ve only been linked consistently with two players in recent weeks: Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.

Both of their rumored targets are uneasy fits. Acquiring Harry Maguire will cost Manchester City a world record fee for a defender, something they’ll be reluctant to do for a player who isn’t necessarily a clean fit in Pep Guardiola’s side and is not even in the top two defenders in the Premier League right now.

Nathan Ake may have the requisite skills to be a good third option, but his size may put City off to him (he stands at just five foot 11 inches).

There is a player, however, who would make an excellent replacement for Vincent Kompany. A player who possesses the physical profile, defensive skills, and passing ability to be an elite option: Bayern Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.

Let’s dive into this profile and explore why he’d be a great fit in their team should City be looking for a non home grown option.
