Manchester City are not interested in signing Bruno Fernandes this summer, according to reports in Portugal.

The Sky Blues have been linked with a transfer move for the Sporting Lisbon talisman, who scored 28 goals in all competitions last season.

Manchester United reportedly called a meeting with Lisbon for next week, as the Red Devils bid to wrap up a deal for the £71million-rated forward.

A Bola now claim there has been another major twist in the saga, as City ruled themselves out as suitors for Fernandes.

City were believed to be closing in on Fernandes, but they insisted to A Bola they have no intention of making an offer for the 24-year-old.

United are now the frontrunners to land Fernandes’ signature, but they will face competition from Tottenham.

Spurs are preparing for the loss of Christian Eriksen, who revealed this week he wanted to leave Spurs, and see Fernandes as a potential option to replace the Danish playmaker.

Mauricio Pochettino and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been promised a big summer by their respective clubs.

Solskjaer wants at least five signings this summer, while Tottenham are set to end a barren run of signings.

Tottenham have not signed a single player in the last two windows, and Pochettino has urged the club to spend big this summer.
