Nicolas Otamendi ‘makes decision’ on Man City future and more rumours – Manchester Evening News

Nicolas Otamendi wants to return to Mestalla and play for Valencia, reports say.

The Argentine had been expected to leave City this summer after falling behind Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Vincent Kompany, but the departure of Kompany may have changed things and he would now be expected to rotate along with Laporte and Stones at the back.

Reports had even suggested that Pep Guardiola would not break the bank for a new defender to replace Kompany, knowing he had three quality centre-backs in his squad.

But now Spanish newspaper Super Deporte claim that Otamendi wants to return to Valencia and that a move is ‘on the table.’

City spent £40million to bring the 31-year-old to Manchester from Valencia in 2015 but it’s claimed he ‘left thinking that one day he would return.’

It’s also reported he has ‘important offers’ from Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain but he does ‘not want to listen to them.’

Meanwhile, City have been given a boost in their bid to keep hold of Leroy Sane after Bayern Munich reportedly accepted they are unlikely to be able to lure the German to Bavaria this summer.

Sky in Germany say Bayern believe Sane would have to hand in a transfer request to force a move through and that is not likely to happen, with the report adding that Sane sees his future in Manchester.

Bayern have not hidden their desire to sign Sane, launching a high-profile campaign with current and former players to persuade the winger to move to the Bundesliga.
