A Manchester City employee was taken to hospital after a corrosive liquid was squirted in her face in a shocking attack.
The woman in her 20s, wearing a top emblazoned with City’s crest, was in her car with her window down in Manchester when a white Range Rover pulled up alongside.
It is understood that one of the vehicle’s occupants shouted an anti-City obscenity before squirting her with a harmful liquid, which police are trying to identify.

She was taken to hospital where she received treatment for skin and eye injuries and was subsequently released. Her injuries are not thought to be life-altering.
City, who are understood to have provided support to the victim, have been assured that their staff are not being maliciously targeted nor that the woman was attacked because she was wearing City colours. Police are also confident that the attack was not part of a campaign against City fans.
The attack happened close to the Manchester Arena at around 7.15pm, two days after Pep Guardiola’s men clinched the Premier League title. Police have appealed for witnesses and are yet to make any arrests.
City play Champions League winners Liverpool in the Community Shield on August 4.
